Only COY (cubs of the year) are permitted to go to a rehabilitation facility in the province if they are orphaned.

There are only three licensed facilities in all of British Columbia able to care for black bear cubs.

On Vancouver Island the only facility permitted to care for bear cubs is North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre

Do not intervene or attempt to feed, capture or transport any suspected orphaned bear cubs.

Please note, there is no veterinary care or permitting available in British Columbia to help cougars, wolves, yearling, sub-adult or adult bears.

Remember that wildlife is resilient and often times able to adapt or recover, though tragic sometimes the kindest thing we can do for an animal is to allow designated professionals to end their suffering.
